Might As Well Jump!

DIT Web Solutions salutes the band Van Halen!

Back in 1984, it felt like everywhere I looked someone had on a Van Halen t-shirt, or was singing “Jump.” Additionally, David Lee Roth’s amazing long hair was being imitated by men and women alike.

With Eddie on guitar, his brother Alex on drums, David Lee Roth on vocals, and Michael Anthony on bass, Van Halen was rocking their way to stardom. At the height of their career, they were one of the most popular and successful rock bands in the world!

Following the change of lead vocals to Sammy Hagar in 1985, I was fortunate enough to see the band perform at the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition), in Toronto. Many of my friends, born and raised with David Lee Roth, had a hard time transitioning to Sammy Hagar, whereas I thought he and the new music were awesome! Songs like “Love Walks In” or “When It’s Love” are just a small taste of the magic they created at this time.

David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar were both amazing in my eyes. Here were two different singers, two different styles, yet both very captivating. Topping that off with Michael Anthony on bass guitar and Alex Van Halen on drums, was a recipe for success.

And let’s talk Eddie Van Halen. That man could do anything with a guitar. What a guru with this instrument!

Formed in 1972, Van Halen performed a total of 1,841 concerts! Following their great success, the band was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Eddie Van Halen (RIP 2020) is a legend who may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. His performances, those solos, will never leave my mind! For this reason, among others, please join us in our salute of Van Halen.

Eddie Van Halen has 2.1 million followers on Facebook!

The band had persistence, great music, loved what they were doing, and ATTRACTED ATTENTION. They advertised their brand with t-shirts, travel mugs, hats, and many other types of promotional items.

Here are some things you can do to attract attention:

  • Anything and everything marketing, digital and traditional: social media posting, search engine optimization, radio, flyers, direct mailings, hats, shirts, travel mugs, tote bags, green friendly products, lawn signs – anything and everything
  • Run campaigns on Facebook and Instagram and any other social media and post consistently – content is king on the internet.
  • Create videos and post them on your website – content should tell your story and add the personal touch. Show what makes your company unique.
