There’s no magic bullet when it comes to attracting visitors to your website that actually want to buy what you have to sell.
Search engine optimization (SEO) techniques can definitely drive traffic your way and smart advertising can heighten awareness of your brand’s online presence. But, inspiring people to place an order or simply inquire about products or services, when they get there, is a whole other discipline – the art and science of inspiring action.
Here at DIT, we develop and enhance client websites that collectively draw hundreds of thousands of visitors a day, including high-profile, high-traffic sites promoted on TV’s Shark Tank. We work with some of the best designers and traffic engineers in the industry and here’s a few tips that we can share with you on turning interest and desire into action:
- Get their attention right away – use engaging images that reflect your visitor’s end-goal – a better quality of life, people enjoying themselves, a sense of personal pride, beauty and/or glamor;
- Keep it simple – one message per page clearly answering the question “what’s in it for them?” to continue reading — written using words, grammar and syntax for about a Grade 7 level;
- Get connected as soon as possible – lead your visitor towards a call to action – buy now, ask a question, subscribe to a newsletter; and
- Build a relationship – it may take 3 or 4 visits to your site before visitors take action, and that usually means they come back, each time, digging deeper for more information about you or proof that your products and/or services deliver because THEY WANT TO BELIEVE– allow the conversation to become more personal and intimate the deeper they dig and pepper every page with relevant testimonials from people just like them.
There’s lots of really useful how-to’s out there to guide you in developing engaging website content that gets the phone ringing and we encourage you to learn as much about it as possible. Should you find yourself needing some guidance along the way then we encourage you to call us, first, and let our experts help you.
