The Challenge
Twenty years ago, beer drinkers tended to be more brand loyal; they usually had one brand of beer they liked, and they stuck to it. These days, however, people are more open to new experiences. The average beer drinker in Canada drinks approximately three different brands of beer every 30 days. Bar and restaurant staff need advanced knowledge to talk about beer with confidence. Because not everyone is sure about the difference between ales and lagers, or between wheat beers and white beers, Molson wanted to create an information-rich online training tool that would offer users in-depth beer knowledge, and the confidence to sell it to customers.
Molson needed a web resource that would be easy to navigate, offer direct access to key information that would let users learn online — and reflect the look and professionalism of the Molson brand.
At first I thought that all the initial details and discussions were a bit over the top. But I soon realized that the better DIT understood my needs, the less time we'd have to spend correcting things down the road. The DIT team took the time to understand my needs and provided a detailed quote on deliverables and timeline. They remained flexible and provided insights on items that were solved before becoming issues. Their communication software (Project Turf) was a valuable communication resource throughout development.

The Solution
Digital Ink Technologies built Molson Beer Academy, a fun, interactive, 100% informative place where servers and trainees can get the info they need to get up to speed on beer — and sell it with confidence. From basics on brewing, to information on beer styles and even food pairings, it's all there in an easy-to-understand, content-rich format.
The Result
It is (and we're quoting the client here) a "kickass" site that's gotten rave reviews. Great design and solid development ensure an engaging, interesting experience. Users find it very useful to have their training videos and other materials readily available online.
